Catherine Hale

Hello!

I’m Catherine Hale. I live with a chronic illness and this has had a big impact on my chances of getting a job and having a career. I now use my lived experience to inform my own research on disability and work,  and to try and influence policies and change practices for the better. I’m excited about working on the WISHES project because it’s about making changes to work and workplaces and my role is to centre the experiences of disabled people and those with health conditions in every aspect of the research. I have two daughters and when I’m not working I enjoy hanging out with my family and getting out into nature whenever my health allows.

Catherine is a disabled researcher and consultant. Her work includes disability, work and health and social security. Catherine founded Chronic Illness Inclusion and she is an advocate for energy-limiting conditions and Flex Plus working.

Logo of the WISHES project. The logo shows the word WISHES where the i is represented by the stork of a dandelion flower and with the flower petals shown by small dark coloured petals that are starting to be blown away to the right in the breeze
